Private Education

More than 20 private schools within a 20-mile radius of Frederick County offer choice when it comes to education. Randolph Macon Academy, Powhatan School, Grafton School, and Sacred Heart Academy, and a host of other smaller, private and parochial schools, offer diverse learning environments.

Higher Education

Lord Fairfax Community College and Shenandoah University are located in Winchester-Frederick County. Old Dominion University is accessible via teletechnet at LFCC and satellite campuses of Virginia Tech and UVA are located within an hour's drive. George Mason, George Washington, and James Madison are other popular choices in the region. 

 

Each year, teams from local high schools vie for the Widget Cup trophy during the Widget Cup: An Exploration of Stem competition. The event allows a rare opportunity to see STEM and Career & Technical Education students in action, translating coursework into real-world applications. Read More
